Licences
How teams buy GSCE licences, assign them to members and track who holds one.
GSCE is bought separately from a plan. Exams open on 27 October 2026. Until then, they are in closed pilot, not on sale and waitlist only. This page covers team licences.
How licensing works
Once exams open, an individual subscriber buys the standalone GSCE exam directly and can start when ready, without a team, an assignment step or a slot to book.
A Team Admin buys a licence for the organisation, then assigns it to a member from the roster. The member pays nothing and sees no purchase step. They can start the exam when ready.
Certification isn't a plan featureYour Individual or Team plan covers labs and learning paths. GSCE is a separate purchase, regardless of your plan.
Buying a licence
A Team Admin buys licences from the team's billing area, where the rest of the account is managed. Each person sitting GSCE needs a licence. Team members already have full lab access through the team plan, so there's no separate bundle to add.

Assigning a licence
In Certification licences in your team console, select the exam and a member from your roster. Set an optional due date, or leave it blank for the member to sit the exam on their own time.
Once assigned, the exam appears unlocked in the member's certifications area. They start it the same way an individual would, with no slot to book. See Sitting the exam.
Unassigned and unused licences
An unassigned licence stays on your account, unused. There is no separate pool to check. Your assignments list records who currently holds a licence.
If you assigned the wrong person or need to change who sits the exam, you can withdraw an unstarted assignment and assign it to someone else. Once a member begins, the licence is locked to them and stays on record. It cannot be reclaimed mid-exam.
